The Dodos Give Away Free Live Album, Tickets To New Pornographers Dates

Category: Blog, News, On Tour · 0

San Francisco acrobatic-folk troupe The Dodos have charted a busy course for themselves this summer, announcing plans to tour almost non-stop in support of last year’s layered and lacquered LP, Time To Die, while teasing new tunes from their as-yet-untitled Frenchkiss Records follow-up. While their docket is full into the Fall, the band will first join their Great White Northern neighbors The New Pornographers for a June/July run, beginning only a few short days after the band’s appearance at Bonnaroo.

To celebrate the dates – and in the time-honored Dodos’ spirit of sharing – the band is offering up a free live album, The Dodos Live From Akropolis, Prague, on their website. The 10-track, hour-long performance comes as an instant download when fans enter to win tickets to any date on the upcoming tour. Doubly generous, huh?! The recording was put to tape in November 2008, and is available courtesy of Radio 1 Prague, Czech Republic. Quick note: all fans need to do to win tickets is submit their email address, and as the band’s website claims, “the power of the internet will sort [their] location out.”

Finally, the band has slashed prices on their catalog and is offering up an immediate digital download of the Phil Ek-produced Time To Die, its breakthrough predecessor Visiter, along with a 10-track Frenchkiss Records sampler, and a high-quality version of the live recording – all for $14.99.

Psycostick Announce “Pay Off The Van” Tour Dates

Category: Blog, On Tour · 0

Psychostick will hit the road this summer on a headlining tour with info-punk band Look What I Did along for direct support. The band has a simple goal this summer – they want to pay off their van.

“From a business standpoint, it is always best to minimize your expenses. By doing that, it is significantly easier to tour without having a huge amount of money due every month,” says Psychostick drummer Alex Preiss. “Wait…I’m supposed to be a rocker…what I meant to say was:  we just want to party!”

The “Pay Off the Van Tour” will be Look What I Did’s second tour with Psychostick. The bands, along with Powerglove, joined forces in May/June 2008 for the “Terrible Shirt Tour.” The Look What I Did’s February 2010 album, “Atlas Drugged,” was produced by Brian Virtue (Deftones, Chevelle, 30 Seconds to Mars) and released on Modernist Movement Records.

“We’re extremely excited to hit the road with our buddies in Look What I Did again,” says Preiss.  “They just released a new disc and I can’t wait to see them perform some of my new favorite songs. I’m also very stoked to get our van paid off. Hey, if you could tour the country to pay off your vehicle, would you? Of course you would.”

“Psychostick are great friends,” says Look What I Did drummer Jake Omen.  “This tour will make ‘House Party 2′ look like ‘House Party 3.’”

Psychostick just wrapped up the final dates of their nine-week tour with Green Jelly and Nashville Pussy. The band released “The Digital Appetizer,” a three-song collection of new music, earlier this month. Songs “Cockblock” and “Tuff Luv” are available for listening on the bands website.

The Henry Clay People Premiere Debut Single Your Famous Friends

Category: Blog, Free Music, News, On Tour · 0

The Henry Clay People debut, Somewhere on the Golden Coast, sounds like the riff-slinging byproduct of playing hard—and drinking even harder—in Midwestern bars that keep their jukeboxes stocked with old Pavement and Replacements records or whatever Robert Pollard released that week.

“While we don’t quite fit in with L.A.’s noise scene or the singer-songwriter crew that hangs out at the Hotel Cafe,” says vocalist/guitarist Joey Siara, “we’ve found a nice little niche for bands like us in L.A—just a bunch of friendly people who prefer to hang out, drink cheap beer, and listen to Big Star records on a Saturday night.” Read the rest of this entry →

Steve Hackett Tour Dates Announced

Category: Blog, News, On Tour · 0

World-renowned guitarist/composer Steve Hackett and his accomplished electric band will soon take to the road in North America to play select cities.  Hackett and company will tour in support of Steve Hackett’s new album OUT OF THE TUNNEL’S MOUTH, which hits streets in North America on June 8th via InsideOut Music.  The release includes a special live bonus disc featuring solo and Genesis classics including Firth Of Fifth,” “Fly On A Windshield” and more.  Please see below for complete track listing and tour dates.  The band features: Steve Hackett (guitar/vocals), Roger King (keyboard/musical director), Nick Beggs (bass/chapman stick/vocals), Rob Townsend (sax/flute/vocals), Gary O’Toole (drums/d drums/percussion/vocals) and Amanda Lehmann (guitar/vocals).

OUT OF THE TUNNEL’S MOUTH is a rock album which features beautifully-sweeping symphonic sounds highlighted by Hackett’s signature soaring guitar and unsullied vocals.  The tracks contain a mélange of influences from classical to Middle Eastern and showcase Hackett’s prowess as a composer with the ability to meld seemingly disparate styles.  Although majestic in sound and scope, OUT OF THE TUNNEL’S MOUTH was recorded in Hackett’s living room and produced in a virtual studio there by longtime writing partner, keyboardist and producer Roger King.  The album has earned accolades from the UK and US press, with Classic Rock declaring the album a “sonic masterpiece.”  Hackett is featured in the June issue of Guitar Player, on stands now in the US.

After Midnight Tour Dates

Category: Blog, News, On Tour · 0

After Midnight Project will be hitting the road this week with Chevelle for a week-long Texas tour beginning May 7 in San Antonio wrapping up May 14 in Mission, TX.

Supporting its debut Universal/Motown release, Lets Build Something To Break, the L.A. band will be on the entire Vans Warped Tour this summer.

Heralded as “One of the most seasoned bands I ever worked with,” by legendary producer and Goldfinger frontman John Feldman, the group’s debut displays singer Jason Evigan’s uncanny ability to pen huge rock anthems blended with melodies that make the songs appealing to even the most hardened rock fan.

“Scream for You” is a song that Jason originally penned for his friends Papa Roach but decided to hold for AMP. The ballad “Gone Too Long” illustrates the rigors of being on the road and was recorded in the early morning hours on a beach in San Simeon. “Take Me Home” has been a crowd favorite for hardcore AMP fans and became the easy selection for the album’s first single.
