San Francisco acrobatic-folk troupe The Dodos have charted a busy course for themselves this summer, announcing plans to tour almost non-stop in support of last year’s layered and lacquered LP, Time To Die, while teasing new tunes from their as-yet-untitled Frenchkiss Records follow-up. While their docket is full into the Fall, the band will first join their Great White Northern neighbors The New Pornographers for a June/July run, beginning only a few short days after the band’s appearance at Bonnaroo.
To celebrate the dates – and in the time-honored Dodos’ spirit of sharing – the band is offering up a free live album, The Dodos Live From Akropolis, Prague, on their website. The 10-track, hour-long performance comes as an instant download when fans enter to win tickets to any date on the upcoming tour. Doubly generous, huh?! The recording was put to tape in November 2008, and is available courtesy of Radio 1 Prague, Czech Republic. Quick note: all fans need to do to win tickets is submit their email address, and as the band’s website claims, “the power of the internet will sort [their] location out.”
Finally, the band has slashed prices on their catalog and is offering up an immediate digital download of the Phil Ek-produced Time To Die, its breakthrough predecessor Visiter, along with a 10-track Frenchkiss Records sampler, and a high-quality version of the live recording – all for $14.99.
