Fun, right?

Synthpop is the subgenre of New Wave and Pop where the synthesizer is the dominant sound. Originated during the new wave – late 70s early 80s – and big time reemerged in the mid to late 2000s — which leads us to today’s show. We’re counting down the top 5 leading solo female singer/songwriter synthpop artists who use 80s-style synths and who embody a sort of futuristic, mythical, or generally outlandish fashion and performance style.

On Saturday, July 18th, hordes of fans of the video game series Final Fantasy will converge on the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco for the sold out San Francisco Symphony performance of “Distant Worlds: The Music of Final Fantasy.”
The show will consist of the SF Symphony performing selections from the long history of the gaming franchise, and will be accompanied by visuals from the games. All of the music for the series was written by Nobuo Uematsu, who will be in attendance.
The Final Fantasy game series was created in 1987 by Hironobu Sakaguchi for the Japanese Famicom Game System (the Nintendo Entertainment System in America) for Squaresoft (now Square Enix). The franchise is loved the world over, and will be releasing the 13th game to an anxious public next year.
Every Wed. here at MEVIO we have indie music artists stop by the studios here and perform acoustic for us. We’ve had artists who are on tour stop in occasionally for an interview or an impromptu acoustic performance. Among the artists who’ve stopped by include Jason Shannon, Jet Lag Gemini, Geoff Smith, The Lonely H and many others. Then we got this bright idea to bring in some local talent and make a show of it. If you are a fan of MTV Unplugged, check this show out. You might like it!
Triple Cobra is about to embark on our first full-blown national tour. I saw this band open for The Trews at the Bottom of The Hill in San Francisco and was blown away. They play Hard Glam Rock with a couple of back up singers/dancers who dress super sexy and have tons of Rock attitude.
Note: Check out Athena Valbracht III. She is incredible to watch and one of the sexiest women I’ve ever seen on stage.
