This week we have a classic from Def Leppard from 1979

“Wasted” is a 1979 single by British hard rock band Def Leppard from their debut album On Through the Night. This was the band’s first proper single, and the recording featured on the single is a different version from the On Through the Night
LP. The B-Side on the single is “Hello America”, which is also a
different recording from the LP. These alternate, single-only versions
of “Wasted” and “Hello America” have never been released on CD, except
for on bootlegs. The record was produced by Nick Tauber, whom the band
selected because of his previous clients, particularly Thin Lizzy. Two other songs, Rock Brigade and Glad I’m Alive,
were recorded during the session but were shelved when the band’s
management were displeased with the production, thus resulting in
Wasted and Hello America being released as a single. Tauber’s versions
of Rock Brigade and Glad I’m Alive remain unreleased.

It was announced today that in conjunction with the new movie Iron Man 2, that a “unique collaboration between Marvel Studios and Columbia Records” AC/DC will be featured prominently in the movie, as well as getting their own Iron Man 2 branded soundtrack for the movie. AC/DC: Iron Man 2 will be released on April 19, 2010, and feature 15 classic AC/DC tracks from the bands history, covering all studio albums between 1976-2008.

The Amazon version is available as either a CD/DVD collection or as a two vinyl set. The Walmart version is just CD only.

To go along with today’s announcement is the debut of a video for the collection of the AC/DC classic “Shoot To Thrill”. The video features footage of AC/DC’s performance in Buenos Aires during their recent Black Ice tour. Check out the video below:

AC/DC’s Music to be featured in “IRON MAN 2″
Band to Release AC/DC: Iron Man 2 Album on Monday April 19, 2010

Los Angeles, CA. January 26, 2010 – Through a unique collaboration between Marvel Studios and Columbia Records, AC/DC’s music will be featured in Marvel Studios’ “IRON MAN 2,” the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster film. In addition, Columbia Records will release the album AC/DC: Iron Man 2 on Monday, April 19, 2010. AC/DC: Iron Man 2, features 15 classic AC/DC songs selected from ten of the band’s studio albums, ranging from 1976 to 2008. The complete track listing can be found below.

Pre-orders begin today, January 26th at Amazon.com for the deluxe version of AC/DC: Iron Man 2 – CD+DVD and two LP vinyl packages – and at Walmart.com for the AC/DC: Iron Man 2 CD. The film opens internationally beginning on April 28, 2010. In the U.S., the film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures and is scheduled for release on May 7, 2010.

The debut video from AC/DC: Iron Man 2 is AC/DC’s classic album cut “Shoot To Thrill,” which was filmed live last month in Buenos Aires during the band’s highly acclaimed Black Ice World Tour, the second highest grossing world tour of 2009 according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar. The video also incorporates exclusive footage from “IRON MAN 2″ and debuts worldwide today. Jon Favreau returns to direct “IRON MAN 2,” with Robert Downey Jr. reprising his starring role as the larger-than-life leading character, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson.

Based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero, “IRON MAN 2″ continues the story of 2008’s box office smash hit “IRON MAN,” which grossed nearly USD 600 million worldwide, and was the first feature film produced independently by Marvel Studios. “IRON MAN 2″ is being produced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige.
