Listen to “Ice In The Loveliest Veins”, here:

Long Island indie rockers, My Summer, just self-released their highly anticipated new full-length album, “Ice In The Loveliest Veins”, on July 2nd, 2011. In response to the albums immediate success the band is giving away a song for free!

ormed in 2005 by Mike Longo (guitar, vocals) and Joe Lambiaso (drums), My Summer quickly established themselves as a staple of New York’s indie rock scene, picking up band members Dave Ferrara (guitar) and Joe Gruber (bass) along the way. Before year’s end, they released their first EP and began building up a following along the East Coast with their mix of upbeat guitar-driven rock balanced by melodic, jazzy interludes. In Fall 2006, the band released their first full-length, Catch Fire.

My Summer’s self-titled sophomore release debuted in November 2009. The album highlights the band’s ability to synthesize a range of influences. Songs like “What Your Worth” and “Seething Soul” captured My Summer’s upbeat, yet aggressive sound, while “Wake Up” and “Through the War”, reveal a subtle thread of indie-pop. The record grabbed industry attention and the band found themselves featured on Fearless Radio, New Music Inferno, Eat Sleep Breath Music, PopTimes, AltSounds, The Sound Alarm and The Dave & Glenn Show.

So far 2011 has proved to be the year of My Summer and with this new release, it’s clear their success has only just begun.

Judy Collins To Stephen Stills: “I Could Have Loved You Better”

Category: Free Music, New Releases · 0

On ‘Paradise,’ out now from Wildflower Records, Judy Collins pairs up with former lover Stephen Stills on the Tom Paxton song “Last Thing on My Mind.” The result is a fresh and sweetly melodic reminiscence of a couple’s breakup, beautifully weaving the duo’s complementary voices together with softly jangling guitars. The poignant sound of the two singing “I could’ve loved you better… didn’t mean to be unkind/ Don’t you know that was the last thing on my mind” makes for a wonderfully lilting and bittersweet tune.

After a successful stint with Interpol over the summer, Twin Tigers are hitting the road again, joining We Are Scientists on a brief run this October.  Following this short run of dates, the Athens, GA indie group will embark on a short headlining run later this fall to be announced shortly.

During their summer tour with Interpol, Twin Tigers were able to bring their unique sound to larger audiences, creating further interest and awareness to their music.  Their debut album, Gray Waves, was released via Old Flame Records in March 2010.  The critically acclaimed album helped thrust the band into the indie spotlight, allowing them to perform with some of the best known bands in their genre including Deerhunter, The Hold Steady, Woods, Les Savy Fav, and A Place To Bury Strangers.

Their debut EP, Curious Faces / Violet Future, was released in 2008 to critical acclaim, and followed by a a digital EP, Automatic, in late 2009.  Following the completion of Gray Waves, Twin Tigers joined Minus The Bear and The Antlers on tour in the fall of 2009, and performed at the WOXY showcase and Sneak Attack Media at SXSW 2010.

The four piece band from Athens, Georgia was formed by Matthew Rain (guitars/vocals) and Aimee Morris (bass) when the two were co-workers at Michael Stipe’s Grit restaurant.  Through constant touring with bands including Dead Confederate, Jay Reatard, Black Lips, Dungen, and Snowden, Twin Tigers built a solid fan base throughout the southeast.  The band rounded out its current lineup with Forrest Hall (guitars) in 2009.

Tony Castles Premiere Debut Single “Black Girls in Dresses” – Announce Fall Tour With Tom Tom Club

mp3: “Black Girls in Dresses

http://www.myspace.com/thetonycastles

Paul Sicilian and Gabriel Wurzel first crossed paths as freshmen at a central Connecticut high school. The two soon began playing together in bands, squeezing some excitement out of the endless Tuesday that is CT. The pair went to Skidmore College, where they continued to write music. There they were introduced to fellow student and musician Willie Miesmer. Within two years of graduating all three moved to Brooklyn, NY where they reconnected and began playing together, often swapping instruments and experimenting with loop pedals and samplers. The chemistry was instant. They continue to deconstruct and reinvent their sound while maintaining a mutual love for melody and space. Their debut five song EP No Service, recorded and produced by Jake Aron (Jamie Lidell, Yeasayer, Chairlift) and mixed at the Rare Book Room by Nicolas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter, Silver Jews) is forthcoming September 21, 2010 on Famous Class Records.

Rose Tattoo Tribute, Dollyrots Acoustic and Weight Loss

Category: Blog · 0

Good day friends. Normally on Wed. we start the music lineup with an episode of the MeVIO Underground, our live acoustic music show. Today is slightly different. We have some bills to pay so I start the channel off with a Nutrisystem host endorsement. If you need to lose weight, give it a try. Some of the nerds here at MeVIO are on Nutrisystem and it seems to be working for them. And we can save you some money on it too if you go to nutrisystem.com/mvmusic
Next up I pay tribute to Mick Cocks, guitarist for Rose Tattoo who passed away yesterday from liver cancer. He was a great guitarist and I’ve never heard a bad word spoken of him. If you are not familiar with the pure rock n roll greatness that is Rose Tattoo, do yourself a favor and get their entire catalog. They are the real thing, friends. I play the video for Black Eyed Bruiser on the tribute as well.
After that, we have The Dollyrots in studio for a fantastic acoustic set that includes 2 new songs, so I guess that qualifies as an exclusive. They were really nice people and play some of the catchiest punk rock you will ever hear. They came down while they were in San Francisco during a west coast tour. They also did an interview with Jackie and Martina while they were here. That will be posted on MeVIO soon.
All that and much more stuff on MeVIO Music today including some Rock News from my friend Share at Rock n Roll TV and a bunch of Holiday Gift Guides.

You can watch it all right here. Just hit play on the video player at the top of this post.

Speaking of Holiday Gifts, get some new Converse from Eastbay.com and save some money by using our codes:
