This week on Hairbangers Ball, Michael Butler reaches back into the vaults for a performance of Sin City by AC/DC from a 1978 TV episode of The Midnight Special.

The show that night was hosted by Ted Nugent and featured Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Golden Earring, REO Speedwagon and AC/DC. AC/DC had been opening for Aerosmith on tour that year, and Steven Tyler helped Nugent introduce the band.

• Malcolm Young – rhythm guitar, backing vocals
• Cliff Williams – bass guitar, backing vocals
• Phil Rudd – drums

Sin City was from the fifth studio album by AC/DC, Powerage, which also featured favorites like Riff Raff, Gone Shootin’, Kicked in the Teeth and Rock ‘n’ Roll Damnation. All of the songs on the album were written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott. Sin City has since become a classic and has been covered by a number of bands, including Twisted Sister, Ugly Kid Joe, Great White and The Offspring.

This video shows the incredible high-energy performance that was typical of AC/DC, with Angus Young’s trademark strutting, duck-walking and headbanging – along with the legendary Bon Scott’s superb and jaged vocals.

Jackie and Martina take a look at Cinderella’s Nobody’s Fool on this episode of Music Video Reform School.

“Nobody’s Fool” is the second single from Rock band Cinderella. Released in 1986, it made it to number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100.

The music video features a Cinderella story, complete with wicked step-sisters in clock hats, and a midnight transformation. The storyline is so well hidden, however, that it is completely lost on most viewers who don’t remember the band’s previous video for “Shake Me” which showed the first part of the story. The Reform School Girls didn’t get it either.

Why would you call yourself Cinderella?

Omigod, this is so weird.

It’s the world premiere of Cory Lamb’s video for Safe In Your Arms, today on Mevio Music Videos.

Safe In Your Arms tells a familiar story – one of losing your way, and finding it again – of traveling far astray, and returning home at last. It’s a tale that’s as old as the ages, but still means something for our lives today. Cory Lamb says that it’s about realizing that regardless of the mistakes we make in life, ultimately we should know that we are loved.

The video depicts a young couple going through a tragedy that threatens to destroy them. The journey of loss and heartache and anger eventually leads them back into the safety of each other’s arms.

Lamb describes it as the story of the Prodigal Son. ”No matter what you do, no matter how many times you trip and fall, we know that our families love us, and we know that our Father in Heaven loves us.”

Lamb has had his own spiritual and musical homecoming of sorts over the past year or so. He moved to L.A. upon graduating from high school and began recording with Grammy Award-winner John Guess. Though this was the fulfillment of a childhood dream, he decided that he wanted to focus more attention on his songwriting, and developing his own distinctive musical style. He put together his own band, and after two years in Southern California decided that it was time to move back to Arkansas and base his life and music from there.

If the new EP is any indication, it was an excellent decision.

For Lamb, his music isn’t just a career, it’s a way to help and heal others. ”I hope that you guys can relate to this song in your life, and hopefully you can play it for others, and they’ll feel better about themselves, knowing that they’re loved.”

Jennifer Jules Hart has some fun at Coachella on this edition of Bite Size Diaries.

Jules was really excited upon arrival at Coachella. She heard all kinds of bands, and met people from all over the world. She managed to capture some of the festivities on her camera phone, after losing her main camera. Which brings us to tip #1: Always get a locker. “Trust me guys, it gets wild,” says Jules. “Get a locker. Also, watch out for those Ruffie Coladas.”

Since there are huge crowds of strangers from all over, Jules also recommends that you be on the lookout for love (or something like it). Maybe consider going stag. “Don’t bring sand to the beach!”

She also suggests that you wear a costume. “The more fun your costume, the more fun you’ll be having.” If you need a demonstration of that, watch the video. Makes perfect sense to us.

Eddie has news about an excellent new mixtape tribute to the Beastie Boys on this edition of The Rad Report.

The Mixtape is from ace producer Mick Boogie and titled “Grand Royal” (after the erstwhile Beasties record label). It’s available for free download from DatPiff, and includes 29 tracks drawn from various Beasties classics, remixes, demos, live recordings, etc.

Boogie decided to do the tape in honor of the Beastie Boys being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this month. He told RapFix “Albums like Check Your Head went seamlessly from punk to jazz fusion to dusty, sample-filled hiphop. It shaped my whole musical identity.”

The cover art is from legendary photographer Jonathan Mannion. It’s a reshoot of the iconic cover from the Beastie Boy’s 1989 classic “Paul’s Boutique.”

Eddie calls the mixtape “a must-hear for any fan.”

Mick Boogie has also collaborated with Homage to produce a limited-edition T-Shirt for the release. A portion of the proceeds will go to cancer charities in honor of Adam Yauch (a.k.a. MCA) who was diagnosed with cancer in a salivary gland in 2009.

Jackie and Martina take on The Guild’s latest video on this episode of Music Video Reform School.

Felicia Day and some of her fellow cast members from The Guild have produced several music videos now, including “Do You Want To Date My Avatar,” “Game On” and the latest, “I’m The One That’s Cool.”

In case you’re unfamiliar, The Guild is an original web series that Day created, wrote and stars in, loosely based on her own life as a gaming enthusiast. It has won numerous awards for Best Series, Best Actress, Best Ensemble Cast, etc.

“I’m The One That’s Cool” depicts the band members being tormented during high school, and their revenge (being the cool kids) today.

Day is about as cool as you can get – valedictorian of her senior class, an accomplished violinist who was accepted to Julliard, a double major (math and music performance) at U.T. Austin. She first rose to prominence as Violet on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Reform School girls found the song catchy, but the video not so cool.
