The Parlotones Live At Mevio

Category: Live From Studio B · 0

This time around from Mevio Underground it’s The Parlotones live from Studio B.

With a new album, Journey Through The Shadows, coming out in May (along with an extensive U.S. tour to support it) The Parlotones are one band you’re going to be hearing a lot more this year. The innovative South African Rockers dropped by Studio B recently and played a smokin’ acoustic set, including Should We Fight Back, Life Design and Push Me To The Floor from 2009′s Stardust Galaxies.

Their 27-city American blitz begins on May 17th at the Roxy in LA – after a stop at SXSW.

In addition to constant touring, winning numerous awards, releasing nine albums and three EPs over the past decade, the band has also managed to create its own wine label, with wines named after their songs (such as Giant Mistake, Push Me To The Floor and We Call This Dancing).

Band Members:

Glenn Hodgson – bass guitar, piano, backing vocals
Paul Hodgson – lead guitar, keyboard
Kahn Morbee – lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Neil Pauw – drums

Graffiti6 Live from Studio B

Jamie Scott from Graffiti6 dropped by Mevio’s Studio B for this live set from Mevio Underground. He played ”Over You” from the debut album “Colours” and “Free” from the most recent Graffiti6 EP.

Hailing from Great Britain, Scott first came to prominence in a band called “Jamie Scott and the Town” touring with artists like Alicia Keys, Ryan Adams and Kelly Clarkson. He teamed up with producer and songwriter TommyD (who produced Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy”) for what was intended to be a solo album, but the two of them soon realized that the whole was bigger than the sum of its parts. Graffiti6 was born.

Graffiti6 Discography:

Stare Into the Sun (sampler) – 2009
Stone In My Heart (EP) – 2010
Annie You Save Me (single) – 2010
Colours (Full Length Album) – 2010
Free (EP) – 2011

Nat ‘n’ Alex in Studio B

Category: Live From Studio B · 0

Nat and Alex Wolff have emerged from their portrayal of talented singer/songwriter brothers on Nickelodeon’s wildly popular Naked Brothers Band series to show their fans who they really are. As it turns out, they actually are just what they portrayed – a pair of talented singer/songwriter brothers.

From the time they were toddlers, the duo was making music. Nat formed his first band in pre-school and Alex started playing saxophone when he was only two-and-a-half years old. Fortunately, their parents (Jazz pianist Michael Wolff and writer/director/actor/producer Polly Draper) encouraged their musical pursuits. Though only 16 and 13 now, the two show a depth that is astonishing (and refreshing, in this day and age).

Their album Black Sheep is set to be released on October 11th. The first single form the album, Thump Thump Thump, is already available on iTunes.

Here are the videos of Nat ‘n’ Alex recently recorded live in Studio B at MeVIO.
