SRS Labs has released a new version of their popular music app for iPhone, iPod Touch and (for the first time) iPad. MyTunes Pro and MyTunes Pro HD offer some significant enhancements for music lovers on the go.
If you’ve never used the app, you might wonder why anyone would need it. After all, isn’t the iTunes music app enough?
Here are the two things that stand out with MyTunes that might make you want to consider it, even with the somewhat hefty price ($9.99 for the iPad/HD version, $6.99 for the iPhone/Touch).
It’s easier to navigate and use. Sure, Cover Flow is neat, but if you have a large music collection there are times it can get in the way. MyTunes does use album art for playlist and album views, but the rest of the menus show up as lists. You won’t believe what a difference this makes in being able to find what you’re looking for in a hurry. Play and feature controls are also easier to use and see.
The sound is amazing. SRS Labs calls itself “the world leader in practical applications of the science of psychoacoustics.” Their sound technologies include advanced audio enhancement, voice processing and surround sound for a wide range of devices from mobile phones to home entertainment systems. MyTunes includes a technology called WOW HD, which adds space and clarity to the sound. With presets for earbuds, small speakers, car streaming and more, it’s a huge upgrade to the quality of sound.
The app also has some other interesting features, such as DJ transitions, volume normalization and “workout mode” – but those are just icing on the cake.
A free trial version is available from the iTunes App Store. I can be used for up to ten minutes, once per day without purchase. That ought to be long enough for you to compare and see if the App is worth the purchase price to you. We certainly think it is.
Wondering how cool MyTunes Pro HD would be on one of the new iPads? With the launch of the new version, SRS is hosting a sweepstakes that gives you a chance to win one of three brand new Apple iPads featuring the fully unlocked version of MyTunes Pro HD.
