A+ for “Give Your Heart A Break”

It’s not often that a video gets a perfect score from Jackie and Martina, but Demi Lovato’s new video for Give Your Heart A Break is about as perfect as you can get.

First of all, it’s hard not to love Lovato. If you happened to catch her recent documentary on MTV, or if you know anything about her life, you realize that this incredibly talented and beautiful teenager has been through nightmarish hell, survived, came out stronger and is now devoting her efforts toward helping others who suffer from the same issues.

This song is the second release from her third album, Unbroken. Although the title makes a pun on the word “heartbreak” Lovato describes it this way:

Last year I began working on a song about a different kind of love. It’s a song about showing someone you love that you’re the one right in front of them. This is a song about faith.

The video depicts a young couple having a disagreement (and presumably a breakup), and the lengths to which Lovato’s character will go to win back her man. Filled with images of tender, intimate moments between the two, it’s hard to believe that the couple in the video aren’t lovers in real life. Lovato told MTV “It is kind of awkward at first when you have to act like a couple with someone that you don’t know. He was really sweet – really sweet and really cute.”

We won’t spoil the ending for you if you haven’t seen this one, but suffice it to say that it’s one of the most endearing and memorable videos of 2012.
