Rock Of Ages Movie Trailer

Watch the trailer for Rock of Ages, a new movie based on the Broadway musical, based on the good-time music of the 1980s.

Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison – if music from these folks were the soundtrack to your high school years, and you still listen to 80s on 8, then you’re the target market for Rock of Ages. First it opened in L.A. Then Off-Broadway. Then Broadway (where it was nominated for five Tony Awards). It’s since played in the West End and toured extensively, and now they’ve made a movie out of it. With Tom Cruise. As an aging Rock star. Brilliant.

The story revolves around politicians, developers and religious fanatics with plans to “clean up the Sunset Strip,” the lives of the people who work at “The Bourbon,” the memories of those who made it (and those who didn’t), and the Rock and Roll dreams of those still young enough to dream. The real value of this film (if there is any) will be the songs. We’re not sure if all of these will be in the film, but they’re in the original production.

So, why not Def Leppard’s Rock of Ages (the song that gave the show its name)? Licensing issues, bud.

We’re wondering how hard this thing can actually rock, considering some of the cast.
