Adele: Rollin’ in the Grammys

British singer Adele was the big winner at the 54th annual Grammy Awards last evening, receiving awards for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Short Form Music Video and Best Pop Solo Performance. Her six Grammys tie Beyoncé for most awards won by a female artist in a single night.
She also celebrated her return to the microphone after throat surgery, belting out a soulful rendition of Rollin’ in the Deep.
The Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Skrillex, Taylor Swift and Tony Bennett all had good nights as well, taking top honors in their respective categories.
Obviously the mood of the evening was clouded by the passing of Whitney Houston on Saturday night. Jennifer Hudson provided a stirring tribute with her version of I Will Always Love You.
The evening ended with a rollicking performance by Sir Paul McCartney alongside a cast of stellar guitarists (including Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh and Dave Grohl) soloing on The Beatles’ Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End.
The full list of nominees and winners for the 2012 Grammys is on the official site.
