With a 60′s farfisa organ and plenty of fuzz
pedals, The Love Me Nots formed in 2006. Influenced by The Animals,
The Ventures, The Sonics, The Dead Kennedys, The Seeds, The Detroit
Cobras, April March and The White Stripes, The Love Me Nots dubbed
their sound “spy-surf-fuzz-gogo.”
In Black & White (2006
Atomic A Go Go) was recorded by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Romantics)
and within one week of its release went to the CMJ Top 100 chart. The
single ‘Move In Tight’ was included on SPIN’s list of “Songs You Need
to Download Now,” a panel of editors from Billboard selected them to
perform at the 2007 Independent Music World Series showcase in San
Francisco, XM Radio named the debut it of the Top XMU 25 Albums of
2007, and Stinkweeds Records in Phoenix called it one of their Top 10
best-selling albums of the year.
The Love Me Not’s second
album, DETROIT (2008 Atomic A Go Go), also recorded by Diamond, was
named Disc of The Month by Rolling Stone (France), was named one of the
Top 10 Albums of 2008 by critics from The Village Voice, Austin
Chronicle, Phoenix New Times, BreakThru Radio, and more. The single
“Give Em What They Want” was included on Little Steven’s comp The
Coolest Songs In The World, and the single “Break My Heart” was
featured on the television show Rescue Me. Tracks were played on BBC
Radio, Alice Cooper’s syndicated show, KUPD, KROQ, XM Radio (Featured
Artist), KEXP, WFMU, and many other stations in the US and abroad.
In
the fall of 2008, the Project Infinity label (LA)released DETROIT on
vinyl and the band released a music video for the single “You’re Really
Something.”
In the Spring of 2009, the band toured Europe for
the first time, leading to the re-release of their first two records on
France’s Bad Reputation Records.
The Love Me Nots released their third album , Upsidedown Insideout (2009 Atomic A Go Go) on September 18, 2009.
