No Depression back issues now available online

Between the years 1995 and 2008, No Depression was THE magazine at the center of (what they coined as) insurgent country music. They were the first to bring to national attention artists like Neko Case, WILCO & the Drive-By Truckers. At the same time they continued to raise the flag for the forgotten forefathers like Ralph Stanley, Butch Hancock & Wanda Jackson.
However, due to a decline in ads sales they cessed publication after only 75 issues.
If you missed out, or just want to re-live the past, the entire run of the magazine is now availble online.

According to publisher Kyla Fairchild’s blog, the converting of all the past issues to web format began over a year ago. After failing to find a sure fire way of automating the task, they called upon community members of their site. 35 members answered the call, and volunteered over 1000 hours of their time to the project.
I don’t know if that is more akin to out-sourcing or barn building, but I love what they did.
